Selwyn Bush is the area of bush directly below the ASB stadium leading down a small valley to the Purewa Valley. It borders the school grounds on the eastern side and residential properties on the western side.
Our vision is to control the valleys weeds, especially where native vegetation is being smothered, to replant areas where weeds have been removed and to further define the existing walking track for public use.
In 2013 we had an Ecological Plan produced by Ecologist Melissa Marler.
Selwyn Bush has been neglected for many years since it was purchased as Education Department land in the 1950's. Due to it's terrain it was not suitable for building or for playing fields. The valley already contained some native vegetation in the lower areas (see bottom of this page) and this is what had survived to this day, though now with increasing competition with the rapidly growing weed populations.
