Pourewa Restoration Group

The Pourewa Valley is in the heart of Auckland City. The remnant coastal forest is being restored by a number of volunteer groups headed by the Friends Of Pourewa Valley.

Friends Of Pourewa Valley

The Pourewa Valley is a hidden gem on our doorstep, lying only 6km from Auckland’s CBD, and forming part of a greenbelt stretching from Orakei – Glen Innes. It is one of the last remaining areas of urban forest in Auckland. Parts of the Valley have been designated as Significant Ecological Areas ( SEA’s ) by Auckland Council. With the development of the Eastern Path walkway/cycleway, this beautiful and ecologically significant area will soon be enjoyed by a far greater number of visitors and commuters.

The Friends of Pourewa Valley Group has been formed as an umbrella group to promote the valley and the groups involved in restoring the valley. The FPV is also acting as a voice for residents in working with relevant parties on the design of the Eastern Path walkway/cycleway and looking at appropriate access points into this new walking and cycle route.
