This is Derek's report to Marting of the activity last Sundayt. Martin was running the marathon.

"Pat & I had a productive day, we cleared more of the Japanese honeysuckle - we're starting to make some headway along this bank! next week i'll bring the chainsaw and clear some of that Poplar that fell and crushed a native you guys planted. Pat pointed out it was still alive underneath."

Derek did the most amazing work. All Pat did was haul cut bits up the bank and pile them up. Derek cut down a young Hawthorne which had the most astonishing coil of Honeysuckle round it. Must have been there for many years strangling the tree. However, the Hawthorne is so hardy it had grown out the top albeit straggily.

At the bottome of the slope we piled cut Honeysuckle and ginger into a hole then Derek jumped straight into the hole to push it down.  Very physical morning.
